California Science Center Parking Structure at Exposition Park

Client:  McCarthy Building Companies

Location: Los Angeles, California

Landscape Architect: Katherine Spitz & Associates

It's a bird...it's a plane...it's a parking structure? The California Science Center is no ordinary place, and neither is its parking structure. Crowning the subterranean structure is a unique A-12 Blackbird spy plane. (It's actually an A-12 trainer with two cockpits, and the only one ever built.) Our installation celebrates this one-of-a-kind exhibit with 60 species of California native plants that span the desert to the coast. That's an impressive distance...unless you're flying the A-12 at Mach 2.
